Jaguar XJ6 Ser 1 4.2 1969 Stunning Original Example 42,000 Miles Only

Quite possibly one of the most specific cars to emerge from the 1960's, this big cat proved far more important in a production run that spanned well into the Nineties in one form or another and is credited with saving the Jaguar Car Company. I well remember seeing this model for the first time in the 1968 launch and have remained just as excited by its sleek lines and the sporty image that it poses today as I did then. Designed by Bob knight under the instruction of Sir William Lyons, the public just loved it and voted car of the year by Car Magazine

Previously owned by The Right Honourable Sir David Steel (Former Leader of the Liberal Party) David an avid classic car enthusiast and president of the FBHVC including a member of the All Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles Group, a voice of paramount importance with so much legislation flying around these days

Last owner for 20 years and sharing the stable with other fine classic Jaguars, this car has been used very sparingly and highly cherished during his ownership. In 2000 the car was entrusted to Classic Restorations (Rolls Royce Bentley Specialist) with virtually an open cheque book to carry out full bare metal doors off ect re-paint, with any panels required replacing and to return the car to showroom condition for the next 50 years. With invoices for many thousands spent the finished car is a real testimony to the quality of work that was carried out, panel fit and the way the doors line up with sills and shut lines is spot on perfection. In fact you'd be hard pushed to find a stone chip it really is that good. Chrome is superb all round with the original factory finish, screen and door rubbers show no deteration, with excellent Pirelli tyres fitted on each corner to complete the picture . To find a Ser 1 in this condition is getting exceedingly difficult now particularly one with such low miles and fascinating history. The 4.2 Auto is the one to have, and I think this colour of Regency sits so well with the light tan upholstery that again is in such fantastic original condition including the original carpets. The knowledgeable amongst you will recognise the early features of those lovely chrome rim clock faces, straight exhaust tail pipes, and body colour wheels

The original brown wallet contains all the owners books and service charts, thick wad of old Mots (no advisories) and many invoices of work carried out by the specialist. A fine driving car that's bound to please the new owner seeking one of these fine cars. (Owned by us) Debit/credit/ cards taken. (Delivery Service Available)
