Triumph Roadster 2000 1949 Finished in what we consider to be the perfect colour combination for these cars, of gunmetal grey metallic with contrasting grey hide upholstery. Discovered after a long period of hibernation in around 1987 with a credible 30,000 miles from new and MOT history going back to 1980. Purchased by the then new owner with the sole intention of returning the car to show condition, all restoration / refurbishment was entrusted to Beales Engineering Daimler Lanchester restorers with virtually an open cheque book as the invoices on file lay testimony to.
On close inspection the car was found to be in extremely good structural and mechanical order, but with understandably slightly faded coachwork, chrome and interior. With all brightwork removed for re-plating work then commenced on the bodywork to include new timbers in the boot and other areas and correct alignment of the doors. On completion it was then finally finished with a superior longer lasting paint finish before being sent for complete new upholstery, carpets, mohair hood, along with dashboard being re-veneered. Instruments all checked by specialist and steering wheel restored in correct grey finish to factory spec.
Naturally all the other working components of the car were checked at the same time with many being replaced or reconditioned as found necessary in what can often be a very lengthy and costly operation when you start restoring old cars.
Car then remained with the current owner until 2014 when it then changed hands with a mere 32,000 miles showing, with the new owner entrusting all maintenance work to his trusted classic car garage. We note from the invoices on file that apart from routine servicing in 2016 the engine was removed and fully rebuilt (unleaded) with new clutch fitted at the same time and some minor paint work carried out with an invoice for £7,800.
One or two very useful little upgrades have been fitted, one being the Flexolite spin off canister oil filter, and along with the reconditioned radiator is an electric fan thermostatically controlled should you get stuck in traffic on a hot day as a back up.
On test drive today I have to say the car has a very reassuring tight and positive feel to it, quite possibly down to credible and now showing 35,000 miles. The door fit is absolutely superb and would be the envy of many Roadster owners, stainless steel exhaust system and Avon tourist tyres all round. Last fully serviced August 2023 with very few miles done since then. Comprehensive log of restoration invoices and servicing, original day one old buff log book, V5 registration and club regalia. “IdealIy suited” to the person looking for a particularly nice example ready for immediate use.
